places we love

That’s it! It’s over! This is the last time!

This is the last post you will ever read on this site.

Our very first post was not actually a blog post but was in form of an email sent to our local industry contacts and friends which we converted and published here back on June 16, 2011. Now, in reality, a year is not a very long time but we do see it as an achievement and we appreciate the support we received over the year from all those that visited.

From that modest beginning up to today we have had a solid readership. If the metrics prove correct we now have 53 actual subscribers after the first year (yawn). By most standards that number is completely insignificant but you know what we worked very hard to get there are proud of each and every win.

I do know that some of our subscribers don’t visit our blog very often but many do so the real number of active subscriptions is likely lower. What’s important to us here is that we have had a lot more visitors (over 7,000 so far) and we have, over the past year, slowly and steadily built a small community of regular readers. It was really about the community and not the numbers anyway. Our intention was never to sell widgets so we do see our efforts as a modest success.

So, after a year of blogging we are shutting down this site.

BUT. If you love reading what we produce then you will be able to visit us at the same address at our brand new shiny site!

Did you think we were giving up?

I hope not. That’s not who we are! When you visit us going forward you may say, “Hey, this looks a lot like the old site!” and you will be right but there will be a few subtle and interesting changes.

You will simply need to come by and see won’t you.

The launch is coming!

We will be sending out some notification with our typical low key fanfare and like always we will work hard to bring you solid content and hopefully help you along your way.

So, farewell, for now and until we meet again, my friends, be well.

Remember to learn as much as you can, share your thoughts and dreams, accept the criticism that will make you better and act on your ideas.

Over and out.

  1. Hey, if you are giving up this site, can I have it? I need a self-hosted site……….just sayin’……….

Well, we will be waiting with bated (or baited) breath for the news.

Congrats on making it a year…….:)

  2. Thanks Bill. You can have this one but I am keeping my self-host site to myself. That’s why we are migrating after all. Thanks for being there over the year. Appreciated!

  3. Woohoo! I’m breaking out the balloons and cake and ponies for the impending launch! Maybe I’ll even see some of the things we chatted about? Whatever you choose to do, I wish you the very best and continued success. Cheers! Kaarina

  4. Thanks. That means a lot. And yes, some of the things we chatted about have made it to the new and improved site. I do hope that we can continue the great commeraderie here too!

  5. This design is wicked! You definitely know how to keep a reader amused.
Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!)
Fantastic job. I really loved what you had to say, and more
than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
